IP678 Cabinet-Type Airtightness Tester The principle is primarily based on using the pressure differential to assess a product’s sealing performance. Specifically, a gas at a set pressure is introduced into the test article; after pressurization and equilibration—during which the gas fully fills the product and distributes evenly—the pressure drop over a specified time interval is measured. The leakage rate is then calculated using the ideal gas law to determine whether it falls within the prescribed tolerance, thereby indicating whether the product is leaking. This method is commonly referred to in the industry as the pressure‑drop test.
